Typical Development: Birth to Three

Objectives

1.1 Given the gross motor milestone, the learner will be able to identify the labeled age range for children under three

2.1 Given the gross motor skills for a particular age range, the learner will be able to determine the age of a typical child under three

3.1 Given a picture of a child performing gross and/or fine motor activities, the learner will be able to identify that child’s age range under three.

4.1 Given four motor milestones, the learner will be able to sequence those gross and fine motor milestones in chronological order.

Objective 1:

You will go through all of the typical GROSS and FINE motor skills of children Birth through Three. For each section, you can click on the images to reveal the terminology for each picture in both the gross and fine motor sections. Each age group is accessed through a common menu bar at the top of the screen when in this section, where each icon represents a different age group. Here is an example version of what you will see:

Objective 2:

For this objective, you will go through flashcards and multiple choice questions to check your knowledge. Click on the images in order to "flip," the flash cards in this section

Objective 3:

In order to complete this section, you will need to look at the gross and fine motor clues to determine the age of the child pictured. Click on the image once in this section in order to reveal the age of the child pictured.

Objective 4:

The final objective allows the learner to implement their knowledge further by putting several skills in chronological order. Look at the options given and then write down the gross or fine motor skills in order from earliest developed to latest. Click on the image in this section in order to reveal the answer.
